Stone Curlew

Great Stone Curlew (Esacus recurvirostris) is one of the large waders found in Jawai Bundh Dam, Rajasthan, India. This species prefers gravel banks along rivers or large lakes. Though it is crepuscular, it seems to be active during the day trying to guard its nesting site. One sunny afternoon I spotted this individual, guarding its bank from  other waders.
