Elephant Grass

Elephant grass/ Hathi Ghas (Saccharum spontaneum), is a dominant species of grass that covers vast expanses of grasslands in most tiger reserves of central, north and north-east India. They get their name due to their height, which is tall enough to cover the Asiatic elephants in them. In winters, this grass flowers turning the meadows snow white in colour. This photo depicts the inflorescence and the beauty of elephant grass in flowering.
